Organisation of the summer semester in academic year 2020/2021
In the case of lifting the restrictions due to changes in the epidemic conditions, it is possible to partially return to on-site classes.
However, if we fail to partially return to on-site classes during the semester, modules for which the achievement of learning outcomes requires the completion of laboratory classes, workshops, etc. will be carried out according to the block system during the summer months (this applies in particular to students who are about to graduate).
On-site education during the COVID-19 pandemic
The condition for conducting classes in the premises of the University of Silesia is compliance with the hygienic and sanitary requirements in accordance with the applicable regulations as well as the guidelines and recommendations of the Chief Sanitary Inspector:
Please familiarise yourself with the most important organisational solutions adopted at the University of Silesia which aim to ensure your safety and prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2:
Keep in mind:
- you will find hand sanitizers at the entrances of the University's facilities as well as in designated areas where people can gather;
- you should cover your mouth and nose in common areas of buildings (corridors, etc.). We do not require you to wear masks during classes, except when the distance between students is less than 2 m;
- third parties have limited access to the University's facilities,
- it is not allowed to gather in corridors, passageways and in front of rooms, with the exception of the areas designated for this purpose;
- it is recommended to conduct classes according to the block system for a specific group of students or all students of a given year of studies;
- we have introduced the shift system of conducting classes and reorganised class schedules in order to reduce the number of people in passageways during breaks;
- we have limited the number of people in one room so as to provide each person a space of at least 4 m2;
- we carry out a proper disinfection of tables and rooms. Additionally, we ventilate the classrooms after each use.
- we have decided to conduct only one form of education for a particular study group on a given day;
- we are working to designate a permanent place for conducting classes where a specific group of students will meet with the teacher
Please note!
You can take part in on-site classes provided that you are healthy, you do not have symptoms suggesting an infectious disease, such as: increased body temperature, runny nose, cough, shortness of breath, smell and taste disturbances, sore throat, chest pain, diarrhea, you haven’t been in a close contact with an infected person, you are not staying in an apartment with the person in quarantine or isolation as well as you are not under quarantine or isolation yourself.
If, for any of the above-mentioned reasons, you cannot take part in on-site classes, report it to the teacher who conducts the classes. The academic teacher will instruct you how to make up for an absence.
Consultations and office hours of academic teachers:
Consultations and office hours of academic teachers are conducted remotely, in real time, using the tools recommended for this purpose. The teachers are available on dates and hours specified in advance, for at least 45 minutes per week.
