Remote classes
In academic year 2020/2021 at the University of Silesia you will learn in the mixed (hybrid) system. The mixed system consists in carrying out part of classes using distance learning methods and techniques, and part of classes on-site.
Classes, which cannot be conducted on-site due to the currently effective restrictions, will be carried out with the use of distance learning methods and techniques. In particular, this applies to:
- lectures,
- modern language courses,
- computer laboratories,
- practical classes,
- tutorials,
- proseminars,
- seminars,
- tutoring classes.
Physical education classes will be carried out in the hybrid form: 10 hours (5 classes) of physical education will be conducted in the premises of the University of Silesia, 10 hours (2 or 3 meetings) will be conducted outdoors and the remaining 10 hours in the remote form.
You can find the information whether particular classes will be conducted on-site or remotely in the schedule of classes available on the University’s websites.
You can find the information on classes conducted in the contact form: (link to the website)
Forms of remote classes:
- synchronous – classes take place in real time based on audio-video or audio contact between you and the teacher;
- asynchronous – the teachers will share materials with you on a distance learning platform and will be available for you during classes - in line with the schedule.
Remote classes are conducted with the use of the following IT tools:
- platform - Microsoft Office 365 (including Teams, Skype for Companies);
- platform - Moodle;
- in justified cases, it is also possible to use other tools.
Classes in remote mode take place on dates and times specified in the schedule of classes for a particular study programme.
Consultations and office hours of academics
Consultations and office hours of academics take place remotely, in real time, with use of the tools recommended for conducting classes. The teachers will be available for you on previously arranged dates and times for at least 45 minutes per week.
