Statement
Due to the COVID-19 level 3 security status at the University of Silesia and the growing number of cases, students, PhD students, and employees living in the student residence halls who want to leave them during Easter are required to be tested RT-PCR for the SARS-CoV-2 infection. A negative SARS-CoV-2 test is a necessary condition for residing in the student residence halls.
At the same time, we would like to inform you that the cost of the SARS-CoV-2 test will be paid or reimbursed by the University only to students, PhD students, and employees of the University of Silesia.
In order to perform the test, we propose two methods.
METHOD 1 – reimbursement
1. Before returning to the student residence hall, a resident performs the SARS-CoV-2 test, for which they pay themselves and take the invoice issued to the University.
Invoice details:
Uniwersytet Śląski w Katowicach, ul. Bankowa 12, 40-007 Katowice, NIP: 634-019-71-34
2. A negative SARS-CoV-2 test should be presented at the reception desk when collecting the keys to the room.
3. The invoice, along with an attached sheet with the data of the resident and the account number to which money is to be reimbursed for the SARS-CoV-2 test, should be put into the mailbox at the reception desk.
METHOD 2 – free of charge
You are eligible to perform the SARS-CoV-2 test at one of DRIVE-THRU points of the Gyncentrum Genetic Laboratory, which are located in many cities in the country.
1. Before leaving the student residence halls, a resident receives a certificate that he/she is entitled to perform the test at the DRIVE-THRU point of Laboratorium Genetyczne Gyncentrum (Gyncentrum Genetic Laboratory). The template of the certificate will be available at the reception desk of each student residence hall.
2. Before returning to the student residence hall, a resident admits for a free SARS-CoV-2 test at one of the COVID-19 swab points of the Laboratorium Genetyczne Gyncentrum (Gyncentrum Genetic Laboratory) (list of points at https://covid19.gyncentrum.pl/punkty-wymazowe) and have the SARS-CoV-2 test performed, leaving at the swab point the previously received and completed certificate from the student residence hall, which entitles you to perform the test free of charge at the DRIVE-THRU point of Laboratorium Genetyczne Gyncentrum (Gyncentrum Genetic Laboratory) .
3. A negative SARS-CoV-2 test should be presented at the reception desk when collecting the keys to the room.
PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT STUDENTS/PHD STUDENTS/EMPLOYEES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF SILESIA
People who do not study at the University of Silesia but reside in the University’s student residence halls are subject to one of the four options below:
OPTION 1
Before returning to the student residence halls, the resident performs a SARS-CoV-2 test, for which they pay themselves. If they are tested negative, they can return to the student residence halls. A negative SARS-CoV-2 test should be presented at the reception desk when collecting the keys to the room.
OPTION 2
People who have performed a test (serology test) for the detection of SARS-CoV-2-specific IgM and IgG antibodies in 2021 and have a positive result do not have to be tested for SARS-CoV-2 infection. The results confirming the presence of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus-specific antibodies should be presented at the reception desk when collecting the keys to the room.
OPTION 3
People who will decide not to be tested for SARS-CoV-2 infection and do not have the results confirming the presence of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus-specific antibodies can be admitted to the student residence hall only as people in quarantine. That means that they will be accommodated in rooms designed for quarantine and they are obliged to arrange for themselves people who will provide them all the necessary purchases and meals. We would like to remind you that during quarantine it is strictly forbidden to leave the room designated for quarantine.
OPTION 4
Residents who have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine or who have already received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine do not need to be tested. In such cases, the COVID-19 vaccination certificate or the information regarding the second vaccination date should be presented at the reception desk when collecting the keys to the room.
People who have been tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 are allowed to return to the student residence halls after the time specified by the current rules on isolation and quarantine.
The SARS-CoV-2 swab test is valid for 48 hours; therefore, the test should be performed at the earliest 48 hours before returning to the student residence hall.
Information in the announcement will be constantly updated in accordance with the restrictions and regulations regarding safety rules in Poland, which are to reduce the COVID-19 infection rate.
Take care of yourself and be healthy!
